Do you feel tired of repeating the same old question “how was your day” every day? We usually ask this from our favorite people to show our sincerity towards them. As we all know, this simple question itself can provide huge comfort to someone who had a very long day.
Sometimes as a friend, a parent, a colleague, or as a stranger we may use this “how was your day?” question to strike up a conversation with someone. But if this question becomes a routine, it may sound boring or insincere to the other party.
To avoid this problem, there’s a simple solution. And the solution is being specific about what you really want to ask or know. “How was your day” is a vague question. The answers could be, how they are feeling, what they experienced, what went wrong, what they ate, or could be literally anything related to their day.
So, before your sincerity becomes boring to others, it’s good to take some action, right? Instead of asking them “how was your day?”, let’s try something new.
Here are 10 Alternatives to “How was your day?”
- How are you really feeling today?
- Tell me the good things/ bad things about today
- Eat any good food today?
- What was the best part of your day?
- Tell me something that happened today that I don’t know about?
- Did you learn anything new today?
- Tell me three good things about today
- Did you help anyone today? / Did anyone help you today?
- Did you make any new connections today?
- Are there any special moments from today you’d like to share with me?
You can choose one or few questions above to help you get started. As I said before, the key is to be specific of what you really want to ask or know.
Which question will you be asking today? Or are there any new questions you’d like to add to this list? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to know ❤️
