If I ask you “how many times have you experienced feeling down so far in your life?” what would your answer be? I’m pretty sure you will laugh and say that it’s uncountable. It’s because experiencing mental breakdowns is pretty common in human life. But feeling down can literally drain your energy and leaves you unproductive making hard for you to even accomplish the simplest tasks on your daily to-do list.
But never- fear, this problem has some solutions. Here’s where to start.
How to Be Productive When You’re Feeling Down;
Clean and Rearrange your space
You should start by cleaning your space. Yes, I am talking about your room, especially the bed. When you don’t make your bed after waking up, it might make you want to go to the bed again. And when you see yourself surrounded by clutter, you may feel unorganized. So, take time to clean and organize your surroundings. A clean and organized space can really make you feel better and more productive.
Be Social
Depression and feeling unhappy can make you want to isolate yourself from others. when you’re alone, it makes you overthink. So, don’t let this happen. Take time to be close to people. Talk to your family, talk to your friends and spend time with them.
Set new and realistic goals
Having unrealistic aka big goals can make you feel overwhelmed even before you start working on them. This is your reminder to break down your goals. Listen, I am not talking about big goals here. When you’re feeling down, you have to start with small tasks like cleaning your bed, having a meal, and taking a shower – like that create a small to-do list every morning.
Take breaks
Don’t let yourself overwork. This also can drain your energy. Take frequent breaks from all your work whether it’s your office work or doing chores at home. Even taking a small nap counts!
Reward yourself
After accomplishing every big or small goal, reward yourself. You can treat yourself to your favorite food or anything that makes your heart happy. Many studies have found that materialistic rewards can make us more productive. I am being real here and I am not talking about buying all expensive things but just small things that can truly uplift your mood.
Take one step at a time
This is the most important tip. And this is related to breaking down your big goals. Thinking about a goal that is quite hard to reach can make you feel down because you might know where and how to start. Break larger goals into smaller chunks so it will be easier for you to accomplish them.
When you’re feeling depressed or down, you won’t be able to be as productive as you’d ideally like. So, be easy and patient with yourself while trying to do the tips I recommended above. I repeat; “TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME!”
P.S. I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON. I AM SENDING YOU LOTS OF LOVE AND HUGS ON YOUR WAY xx
